Link PAN with Aadhaar
Your PAN card stands the risk of being invalid if not linked to your Aadhaar card withing this month. The Income Tax department has been extending the deadline for linking PAN with Aadhaar since long. This time, the department has declared 31st December 2019 as the last date for linking to the two documents. After this, your PAN card will be considered invalid.
PAN card and Aadhaar card can be linked together online or via SMS. The PAN card, not be linked to the respective Aadhar card, will be considered invalid or ‘inoperative’ after December 31.
Although there is a possibility that the income tax department, in future, may allow reviving the invalid PAN cards, there is yet no clarity on the revival clause.
As per the current laws, you are allowed to quote your Aadhaar number in lieu of your PAN card number.
How to link PAN Card with Aadhaar card?
You can link your PAN card with your Aadhar card through the income tax departments online portal and also via SMS.
The e-filling portal of the Income Tax Department has a section names ‘Link Aadhar”. You need to submit your PAN and Aadhaar numbers and other basic details. After submitting the details, an OTP is sent on your registered mobile number, submitting which, completes the process.
To link your PAN card with Aadhaar card via SMS, write the following on your registered mobile number in the SMS section and send it to 567678.

To link the documents, make sure all your personal information like name, date of birth, gender should be exactly the same in both the documents otherwise the linking will fail.
